10 Things I Loved About Urbana 2012

January 9, 2013

My second Urbana experience reminds me of Jesus’ words that are recorded in John 5:17 that “my Father is always at his work to this very day” (NIV).  Here are ten things that I loved about Urbana 2012 that took place at the America’s Center Edward Jones Dome in St. Louis, Missouri, between Christmas and New Years.

#1 Seeing that God is working among students. It is refreshing to see God’s ancient purposes in a new generation.

#2 Giving students ideas relative to their desires and God’s work in their lives and then hearing them respond, “I never thought of that.”

#3 The openness of students to direction from God, speakers, and exhibitor’s guidance.

#4 A worship team that incorporated cultures, worship styles, and languages to enable us to worship in ways that honor our multi-faceted God.

#5 David Platt telling us the truth that we treat Jesus like a puny savior.

#6 The clear call to long-term missions service.

#7 The roasted eggplant soup at the Au Bon Pain cafe inside the America’s Center and the ease of transportation around St. Louis provided by MetroLink.

#8 The rockin’ missional bookstore!

#9   Hangin’ with my mate, Steve, connecting with friends with other agencies, and having dinner with my Egyptian partner’s son.

#10 The presence of God Almighty.

Life-changing, I am sure!!! I was so thankful for the live-streaming that made it possible for me to “attend” in Colorado! I would encourage anyone who wasn’t there to view the available sessions at https://urbana.org/urbana-12/videos … powerful material!

Thanks for sharing those 10 things you loved about Urbana, Brian. We were wondering how many it would be! We prayed for your time there and we are excited to hear some of the results through what you just shared.
It brought back memories when we when with Curt Hansen one year and taking Wilondja shortly after we were married. We pray that we can take some of grandkids one day to get them fired up also.

Shirley, it was wonderful to see you last week. Thanks for stopping by. Thanks for praying for the time at Urbana. We are following up now with those with whom we made contact.

What a blast that would be to take grand kids there! I’ve got another 20 years or so before that happens.

      The Lord bless you.
